Weaning Introduction

Every step of the way in motherhood is a step out of your comfort zone. Around the time you get comfortable with your nursing/bottling schedule and the weight gain of your baby, comes in solids.
I was intimated about the whole weaning process because I had zero knowledge on the subject. So I decided to get help.
I was comfortable with our current set up and I was nervous about introducing solids. Had many questions in mind. Is she going to like it? Is she going to be able to eat? Is her weight gain going to be steady? Is she going to be able to replace milk with real food? (She loves milk like she is in love with milk. Give her formula, give her breastmilk, she will take it all in.) Where should she sit? What is the best weaning chair? What food should I give her first? Should it be smashed or in pieces? How many meals is it going to be? Am I ready to start cooking regularly as I already had a busy schedule and well I don’t like cooking.

I realized I was nervous because I did not have much information on the subject. I love my pediatrician in Dubai, however, he is not very much into this stuff. He rather looks at the big picture, which is fine. However, I needed educated guidance from someone who updated herself in this subject over the years.
I decided to search for a pediatrician who also holds a functional medicine diploma. Functional medicine does not always work with diseases. Functional medicine mainly promotes the idea of using food to provide the body with true nutrients/vitamins/minerals to develop a solid immune system.
I found one back at home. We had our first session over Zoom as I had all the medical information I had to provide her. It turned out to be the best session ever and the doctor provided more information than I expected. All my questions were answered. I felt much more comfortable after the session. I had a plan for the next 3 months and I had a list of to do and not to dos. The only thing I needed to bring on the table was patience apart from food :)
I truly recommend to speak to an expert if you feel like lost in the process. It opens a whole new world with so much knowledge that you even know existed. Reach out to me if you want me to recommend mine. Even better, search out for a functional medicine pediatrist in your area and give it a chance. You won't regret it!
