This one was so out of blue and it was difficult put a name to it.
During our NICU journey, I had to shower before I went to visit D. in the NICU. So, I have been the cleanest ever in my life😊
After a month of doing so, I realized my hair was greasy. Like super greasy (didn’t have any dandruff though). My hair has never been greasy in my life, so this was new to me. Having gone through early delivery, C-difficile and having taken a ton of antibiotic pills, I thought maybe this was the part of a process. Honestly speaking, I also did not have the time to bother myself with it too.
2 weeks later, it was only getting worse. I would wash my hair, got out of the shower, brush my hair, it did get greasy in the next hour.
That’s when I did quick research and found out that sometimes when you go through heavy antibiotic treatment and mess up your intestinal balance, this can happen.
I consulted with my OB doctor and she prescribed pro and pre-biotics to be used in the next 6 months.

I had to clean out the grease from my hair in the meantime. Here is what I did.
- I washed my hair with apple vinegar for 3 days in a row. Then I started using shampoo again. My routine for the next 15 days was shampoo + white apple vinegar.
- I got rid of my Head & Shoulders shampoo with way too many chemicals inside. I purchased a clean shampoo with less ingredients and never looked back.
My hair smelled like vinegar for an hour or two after shower. I did not really care😊Honestly it was not that bad as it was white apple vinegar (White vinegar smells less).
Thank God, my hair was back to normal by the end of one-week. This was another step towards normalcy😊
