NICU - Getting ready to go home

When we were told that we would go home in a week, were we prepared? Not in the slightest!

I was still in a very heavy schedule with driving back and forth, and breast pumping. Rest of the time, I was trying to chill and get some sleep.

Preemie baby coming home is a BIG milestone for preemie parents. With all the uncertainties in mind, it is now time to put the normal parent cap on and do all the shopping in a limited time which is indeed supposed to be fun.

The good thing is that I had a list that I made months ago. Funny thing is I NEVER make lists. Like NEVER. I was so happy I had one then.

I took out my excel sheet and marked the ones that we needed urgently.

I am not going to share the list I made mainly because many of them I realized were unnecessary. I will instead share the list of purchased items.

Please keep in mind we live in a city where it is always hot and sunny😊

ITEMS MOST USED IN OUR HOUSE

Baby Scale

Nurses said “no scale at home, weighing ONLY at the clinic.” I couldn’t resist and bought one. I am so glad I did. When you have a preemie, weight gain becomes twice as important. Tracking the weight gave me comfort until D. reached a certain weight.

Playmat with accessories

Lovevery playmat was my go-to item in the first year. It is a stage based playmat with age-based accessories. One of my best purchases.

Changing Station

We had the IKEA changing station and used it quite a lot. It was nice to have the cottons, wipes, diapers, water at one place.
